I’m thinking about doing monthly segments on songs to listen to. This is my first attempt at hip-hop music. I tried to get songs that were released in May to listen to in June, but in my opinion I don’t think there were very many popping songs that came out in May. That’s why I included some fairly new songs in the mix. This list is pretty diverse and includes an array of songs, which is why I think at least one song will peak your interest. I would listen to these songs in the car and when I’m doing work. I like listening to hip-hop music when I’m on the grind. The genre of music gets me pumped and motivated to accomplish something. These songs are also good to jam out to as well!
1. Go Loko by YG (feat. Tyga & Jon Z)
I am absolutely obsessed with this song. I heard it for the first time a couple days ago and I haven’t stopped thinking about it. I think the mix of Mexican tunes and hip-hop make an amazing song, and the added beat is perfect. I also think the outfits in the music video look very cool! This is the type of song to listen to on repeat for the whole month of June.
2. Simon Says by Megan Thee Stallion (Feat. Juicy J)
Simon Says has an amazing beat that gets me up and dancing. This song is new and came out towards the end of May. It is definitely something to listen to in the month of June. I don’t see this song dying down anytime soon. This is the ultimate summer party song and should be added to all your playlists!
3. Bacc At It Again by Yella Breezy, Quavo & Gucci Mane
This song has a very catchy tune and you will definitely find yourself humming the song multiple times of the day after listening to it. To be honest, I like any song Quavo jumps on. This song came out at the end of April, but I think we will be hearing more of it in the month of June. I would listen to this song while chilling with friends and in the car.
4. Started by Iggy Azalea
Iggy really did it again after “Sally Walker.” The “Started” chorus is super easy to latch onto and the beats are nice too. The music video is absolutely amazing! I can’t stop watching it. Iggy looks absolutely amazing in every outfit she sports. My personal favorite is the money outfit of course. This is just a fun song that makes you feel like you’re the boss. I will definitely be listening to this at all times of the day in June.
5. Zulu Screams by GoldLink (Feat. Maleek Berry & Bibi Bourelly)
African beats! I’m so glad I found this song. It is so unique and so good! I can’t stop dancing every time I play it. Mixing African beats with hip-hop needs to be done more often that’s all I’m saying. This song is new and came out towards the end of May. It has great potential so I hope you give it a listen and spread it to your friends! I want everyone to be jamming to this in June.
Ok, so that’s all the five songs I chose to share for the month of June. If you have any other hip-hop song suggestions, share it in the comments below. I love discovering new artists that slap who aren’t on the radio 24/7!
